Whenever we are able to find a coffee from Peru that has the flavors this coffee does, we get ecstatic. Peru has all the makings to be a powerhouse in specialty coffee production. From its elevations, varietals, and focus on quality farming, we expect Peru to continue getting better as it has been, and eventually become a destination for us to find exceptional offerings every time.
This washed coffee was grown at 1700-1800masl and is mostly Bourbon, Typica and Caturra varietals. This is regional select lot so that means multiple growers in the Cajamarca region bring their coffee and once they cup above 85+ they are combined.
This coffee in particular displays a lot of interesting characteristics. It is mostly fruit forward with lots of sweetness. Lots of berries, specifically raspberry. However, there is a wonderful balance of caramel to tone down the acidity just a bit. It finishes very smooth. It is a coffee that can be drank any time of the day. Which is why we love it so much.
